Barbara painting at Sea Loft

Barbara Youtz has had a love for drawing and painting since childhood. As a young adult living in Annapolis she was attracted to watercolors and decided to sign up for lessons with a local artist. Since then watercolor has been a special and rewarding part of her life.

Her art education has come from studying with various professional artists that she admired. And for several years Barbara also taught art for the Fairfax County
Recreation Department.

She has exhibited her paintings at:
The Maryland Federation of Art, The Annapolis Arts Festival, The Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show, Annapolis Watercolor Club Shows, The Baltimore Watercolor Society Shows, The Torpedo Factory, The Great Falls Art Center, The Vienna Art Society Show, The McLean Art Club Ramp Show, and The Nature Conservancy published one of
her photographs.

Awards include:
First and second prizes in The Great Artists Shows, honorable mention from The Maryland Federation of Art, honorable mention from The Great Falls Art Center’s Annual Shows, several honorable mentions from The Falls Church Annual Spring Art Show.

Since 1979 Barbara and her husband Gene have owned a summer cottage in Maine where she is inspired by the beauty of the New England coast. While there she paints and photographs the scenery. She also likes to travel and uses the photographs she takes as a resource for paintings in her studio.
